Grapehounds Virginia!

Grapehounds 2014 PhotoIf you couldn’t join us for Greyhounds in Gettysburg, here is another chance for you to enjoy a greyt event close by.  Grapehounds Virginia is scheduled for May 9-11.  Pre-registration closes May 5.  If you pre-register, you will save money.  Make sure when you register that you designate our organization as the group to help as we get a share of your registration fee.  This year we will be vending again on Saturday (and possibly Sunday) and we are in charge of the silent auction.  You do not have to be a wine enthusiast to attend this great event.  Just come on by and enjoy the country atmosphere and good times!  Check our calendar of events for more information.

The Grapehounds-Virginia event is held near Leesburg, Virginia every May.   The event begins with a welcome party for all registered guests at North Gate Vineyards.

On Saturday and Sunday the event moves to the main host location where huge vendor and social tents will be arrayed for music, food and socializing.  This year the event will be hosted by Quattro Goombas Winery just south of Leesburg on Route 15, with over twelve acres of lawn and shade trees.  They are known for their variety of great wines and their homemade pizza.

One big change in the schedule for 2014 is a change of vending dates.  Because so many people in the Metro D.C. area like to visit Grapehounds on the weekend, the vending days have been changed from Friday and Saturday this year to Saturday and Sunday.

This year’s event will also feature a large social tent where folks may plop down with their lawn chair and a blanket for their greyhounds and just “hang out,” sip some wine, visit the vendors and enjoy some great Quattro Goombas pizza.

Greyhounds In Gettysburg

We would like to thank all of our adopters, volunteers and friends for making Greyhounds in Gettysburg a real success; our best event ever!!  We have been vending for years at GIG and each year gets better.  The event was sponsored by Nittany Greyhounds; this was the second year that they were in charge of the event after it had been run for years by the hard working folks at Triangle Greyhounds.  The vending event took place indoors at the Expo Center near Gettysburg. The vendors were all set up indoors while lots of activities took place around the center, indoors and out.

We enjoyed meeting our adopters and hounds.  It’s always wonderful seeing the happy faces of adopters and greyhounds.  Volunteers from our group took charge of the dog sitting tent all day Saturday.  That was a lot of fun, according to the volunteers who got to spend time with so many wonderful dogs.

One of the reasons we vend at this event is because it brings in much needed funds to help us accomplish our mission.  Thanks to all of the great and unusual items we brought to sell, we had another greyt year selling!

We so appreciate all of the adopters who stopped by to say hello, all of the attendees who stopped by our vending area and bought items and of course to our wonderful volunteers who all helped make this such a success.

Big Event! Greyhounds in Gettysburg

giglogothumbIt’s that time of year again!  It’s time to plan for Greyhounds in Gettysburg!  This is OUR biggest event of the year and it’s become the biggest greyhound event in the country!  We have been fortunate enough to be a vendor at this event as we have been vending since 2008.  This is our best opportunity to earn funds to keep our organization going.

Please consider attending this event with your greyhound(s).  There is something for everyone.  The event runs from April 24-27.  It is held at the Eisenhower Hotel and Convention Center, 2634 Emmitsburg Road in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania.  In addition to over being able to shop until you drop (there are 72 vendors this year!), you can attend seminars, attend special events and enjoy a laid back time on the grounds of the facility.

We highly recommend attending this event if you enjoying going out with your greyhound.  Meet some new friends, reconnect with the old and come and visit us!  If you want to attend the special events and seminars, you must register here.  It’s a good idea to register in advance.  That way you will get the huge goody bag that comes along with your registration.

If you visit our vending booth this year, you will see many new products that we think you will like.  We will be posting here over the course of the next couple of weeks some of the new items we have to sell.  Remember, all proceeds help us find homes for our greyhounds!

If you would like to volunteer to help this year, please contact us.  See you there.

April is Adopt A Greyhound Month!

If you are thinking about adopting a greyhound, this is a perfect time!  Check out Cal’s video, read all the pages on our web site and then submit your application.  We have some great available dogs that are looking for their forever home and a few extra incentives if you are approved to adopt…
